In this episode, Douglas tries to fill time without interviewing someone. We get some news from our group the Secular Humanists of Western Lake Erie, give a humanist response to the murder of George Floyd, celebrate an unlikely court victory for the LGBTQ+ community, and dust off an old blog post about the words “Under God” in the pledge.

Host Notes:
The murder of George Floyd hurts. It didn’t have to happen and I get angry because we seem to be replaying this tragedy over and over. The least that should happen is police stop acting like assholes with guns and start trying to contribute to the community. In the show I talk about responsibility and empathy – those two traits need to be the focus of police reforms so we stop adding to the list of victims.
The US Supreme court ruling this week was totally unexpected. It was thought all the conservative members would support the employers. I wouldn’t say the court was showing its independence but the victory for the LGBTQ+ community brightened my day. — Douglas
